Why is self-care crucial?

In this day and age, we tend to overload ourselves and take on so many responsibilities at the same time. We’re always in the “go-go-go!” phase, and never in the “lay low” phase. Even when we go to bed at night, we are STILL working on that long email that needs to be addressed. So when is it time to stop and take care of yourself, mentally and/or physically? Here are 3 top reasons why you should give yourself a treat once in a while:

It will prevent a burnout: We’ve all been there, you overload yourself and then BOOM. You fall down, hard. unfortunately as we age, we tend to take more and more responsibilities. But we forget that as we get older, our mind and body does too …

Prevents negative impacts from stress: What happens when you are stressed? Your body stays in a tensed mode, your mind keeps rolling even when you’re sleeping (you can’t even relax and fall asleep correctly), you might be the type to eat less or eat more and that will keep you unhealthy. It’s basically a downward spiral: you can’t recover from your daily stress, your body will take a toll from it.

Helps you to refocus: Ever been at the grocery store about to pay your bill then your mind goes completely blank because you forgot your PIN? Or when you’re driving back home but you miss your exit? That’s because your focus is gone somewhere else, all the time! Imagine if your unfocused mind brings you to an accident?

Treat yourself to a facial, massage, pedicure, manicure, or a new hairstyle. You’ll see, it’s only a couple of hours, but oh boy does it make a difference when you walk out of the salon! If that ME time can be done a couple of times a month (even if it’s just to take a walk outside on your own), your busy mind and body will be recovered in no time! 🙂
