Remedies for Puffy Eyes

Have you ever woken up one morning with eyes that are SO puffy that you’ve actually scared yourself? Well, you’re not alone. One of the main reason for puffiness under the eyes is because when you sleep, the lack of blinking mixed with different factors such as alcohol consumption, eating salty foods, etc, retains fluid under your eyes and that is why the puffy look appears in the morning. Here are my top 3 tips to diminish the appearance:

1.Ice, ice, baby: This one is a little “at home remedy”. Get an ice-cube and wrap it in a thin face cloth or a paper towel and pass it everywhere around your eyes. Don’t be shy, at the top, sides and bottom for at least 30 minutes. This will activate circulation and give your eyes a “boosting cooling” effect!

2.Avoid salty foods at night: Another easy way to puff up your eyes is to eat heavy amounts of salt at night, because it tells your body to retain water. If you do, drink A LOT of water before going to bed!

3.Anti-puffiness mask or cream: This tip is more on the professional side, because if you try the first 2 ones and still no result, you might need something that’s a little bit more active. They will mainly decongest the area with ingredients that are anti-inflammatory and calming. Sometimes you need a deeper boost than just ice cubes!

Mainly, puffiness happens because of bad habits (putting genetic factors a side..) If you maintain your water levels, avoid high sodium foods and have enough sleep, this should help your puffy cause!
