Are you leaving for a trip or getting your regular waxing appointment soon? If so, there are things you can do in order to help the waxing before AND after the procedure. If you follow these simple steps, your hair will get waxed off perfectly:
PRE-WAXING:
1.Make sure it’s at a reasonable length: If your hair it too short, it will most likely break when it will be waxed. You want to make sure that it’s close to 1/2 an inch. If it’s too long, the waxing will be fine, but it will most likely be more painful for you!
2.Exfoliate a week before: Exfoliating will remove all the dead cells that accumulated since your last waxing appointment. If you avoid this, it will create an extra layer on top and the waxing procedure might remove some skin, which I’m sure you don’t want. So do your homework and EXFOLIATE. Easiest way is to get a semi-rough exfoliating glove. Don’t be too harsh but make sure you rub the areas properly.
3.Don’t shave: Shaving in between waxing appointments will only harden the root of your hair, making it way more strong with time, and therefore more painful for you to remove with the wax. The point of waxing is to remove the root completely so it can last longer. Shaving it will only restart the whole process.
POST-WAXING:
1.Don’t go in a spa or sauna for at least 1 day:Â Post wax, your pores are exposed and more prone to infection, so stay away from hot saunas and spas, they are full of bacteria.
2.Reduce inflammation: Some people tend to be more reactive and sensitive to waxing, which is normal. In order to help reduce the effects, you can certainly take an ibuprofen or a Benadryl 30 minutes before your waxing appointment.
3.Exfoliate, again: In order to help prevent ingrown hair, you have to keep exfoliating. As the hair slowly grows back, you need to remove the dead cells to help the hair come out properly. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself with little red bumps, which you don’t want. Some are more prone to them, you can always purchase a preventative ingrown hair product with glycollic acids to treat them.
ONE last bonus tip: Don’t forget to moisturize! Having healthy skin is the start of everything 🙂
